Celebrating the launch of GF Smith X Gmund

GF Smith has been one of the world’s leading paper manufacturers for over 140 years. Based in the north, excited by innovation, and focused on the future, GF Smith is a natural partner to Digitronix. They invited us to celebrate the launch of their new visual identity, as well as an exciting partnership with Bavarian paper mill, GMUND.

GMUND focuses on colour and texture, with a production process centred around sustainability and craftsmanship. GF Smith is a partner to the creative industries, giving graphic designers bright, bold, innovative ranges to work with. Joe, Head of Print Sales, and Molly, Graphic Designer, relished the opportunity to explore everything this new collaboration has to offer.

‘Sometimes you have to handle a product to really understand its potential,’ Joe says, ‘particularly when you’re thinking about the luxury side of print production. The colours are great, and these new metallic finishing options give our clients something really exciting to work with. It’s wonderful to be able to see and feel everything first-hand.’

Beyond the swatches and displays, the day was filled with inspiring design talks that offered insights into the thinking behind the rebrand — a refined identity that honours tradition while pushing forward with a bold, modern edge. Joe and Molly enjoyed connecting with fellow designers, printers and paper enthusiasts.

‘There are so many people out there with a genuine passion for printed communications,’ Molly says. ‘In a world where digital has become a bit overwhelming, people want something they can hold and return to.’

Joe agrees. ‘We’ve seen a fantastic resurgence in print. People trust it. They love it. It’s exciting to be in a space where we’re all celebrating the potential of beautiful materials paired with thoughtful design.’
