The campaign, Celebrating Excellence, celebrates a major milestone – NUBS 30th year of accreditation by the Association of MBAs.
Based in the firm belief that celebrations are best when they shine a light on everyone’s involvement, this campaign marks the moment by celebrating 30 years of the MBA students themselves. It gives these individuals a platform to share valuable advice, from their own time at Newcastle, with people who can really benefit from it.
Awarded Gold in the Best Alumni, Development or Fundraising Initiative category, the ceremony attendees heard how “The judges felt this campaign was clean, authentic, inspirational, flexible and scalable. A very worthy gold winner.”
Focusing on 30 Newcastle University Business School Alumni, photographed at land mark destinations across the North East Region, each individual shares advice or a lesson they learned from the course that has served them well.
We’ve created a 30th Anniversary logo lock up which pulls in the AMBA logo – with their blessing – and partners it with Newcastle University Business School. The distinctive colour palette is designed to tie in with existing MBA marketing, and a geometric pattern, suggestive of building blocks and the DNA of the course, supports the messages of strength and professionalism within the campaign.
Phil Morrison, our Head of Design, explains the value of involvement in projects like this one.
‘Working on the campaign was a real eye opener to the wide and varied impact that the Newcastle University Business School has made to students lives over the past 30 years. The overall campaign raised the profile of the MBA course and acted as a great spring board to the next 30 years. The success of the campaign has paved the way for a broader integration of the concept that will live on longer than the initial event.’
To share the moment and these valuable insights with key stakeholders, MBA offer holders and prospective students at MBA open days, we produced a special presentation pack of 30 postcards. Each card features an individual from one year of the course, sharing a piece of advice that seeks to give a leg up to future MBA students.
We created printed and digital event invitations, a video and social media campaign to spread the word with targeted activity.
And to bring the campaign to life at events, including the 30th Anniversary Gala Dinner, we created a 3D interactive installation of the campaign. Using the building blocks theme, we made dozens of large, printed cubes featuring imagery from the campaign that can be built into myriad formations. This is now a permanent exhibition in the Business School’s conference space.
